Active Isolated Stretching

Active Isolated Stretching (AIS) is a dynamic system for improving your flexibility and overall well-being. As you probably already know, stretching your muscles not only reduces your chance of injury, but also strengthens your tendons and improves your circulation.

Acupressure

Acupressure is based on one of  the most ancient principles of healing - that simply touching a specific point on the body will release stress and improve health in the body. In an acupressure session,  we apply firm pressure directly to these "points" on your body, which relieves your muscle tension and improves your circulation. This simple and powerful technique has been shown to be very effective in treating headaches, backaches, and even insomnia.

CranioSacral

This very subtle, gentle technique is often used in conjunction with the myofascial release process, especially in the case of chronic headaches. The crainio-sacral system consists of the membranes and cerebrospinal fluid that surround and protect the brain and spinal cord. The natural flow of this fluid has a distinct rhythm, rate, amplitude, symmetry, and quality. Imbalances or restrictions in this system can result in sensory, motor or neurological dysfunction, and pain. By releasing tension around the head and along the spine, the body’s self-correcting mechanism helps restore the natural balance of the “craniosacral rhythm”

Cupping Therapy $10 extra

Cupping therapy is an ancient form of alternative medicine in which a therapist puts special cups on the surface of your skin and glides them, thus lifting the skin and releasing the underlying fascia.  This treatment helps to relieve  pain, and inflammation, increase lymph and blood flow to the tissues, bring oxygen to the muscles and associated structures and enhances relaxation and overall well-being

Deep Tissue Massage

Deep Tissue Massage is a form of bodywork that aims to relieve tension in the deeper layers of tissue in the body. Deep Tissue Massage is a highly effective method for releasing chronic stress areas due to misalignment, repetitive motions, and past lingering injuries. Due to the nature of the deep tissue work, open communication during the session is crucial to make sure you don't get too uncomfortable. Keep in mind that soreness is  common at times for 24 to 48 hours after the treatment, and that plenty of water should be ingested to hydrate your tissues.

Hot Stone Therapy $10 extra

incorporated into your 60 or 90 minute session : $ 10 additional

Hot Stone Therapy is a style of massage where heated stones are used to massage specific sites on your body to deepen relaxation and promote circulation in your muscles. Muscles that are heated with these stones release tension and stress much more deeply and quickly than with a traditional massage. The overall experience is very relaxing, nurturing, and rejuvenating.

Lymphatic Drainage

What is lymphatic massage?

Lymphatic massage, also called lymphatic drainage or manual lymph drainage, is a technique developed in Germany for treatment of lymphedema, an accumulation of fluid that can occur after lymph nodes are removed during surgery, most often a mastectomy for breast cancer. Lymphedema can also be present at birth or develop at puberty or during adulthood. This type, known as primary lymphedema, can affect as many as four limbs and/or other parts of the body. The cause is unknown. Lymphatic drainage massage for conditions other than lymphedema is not medically recommended, although it may be promoted by some therapists.

What conditions is lymphatic massage used for?

Up to 25 percent of breast cancer patients whose surgery includes removal of lymph nodes in the area of the armpit eventually develop lymphedema. The condition can also occur in the legs or other parts of the body if lymph nodes are removed in the course of other types of surgery – for melanoma, colon, prostate or bladder cancer, for example – or are damaged by radiation treatment, infection or trauma. Symptoms include swelling and pain near the site of the removed or damaged lymph nodes. Lymphedema can occur immediately after radiation therapy or surgery, or weeks, months, and even years later.

Movement Education

Mindful Movement education uses a custom-tailored approach to improving your body awareness and movement skills. Combining problem-solving, guided-discovery, and exploratory methods, this practice inevitably leads to a stronger connection between the mind and body, creating a more natural and graceful experience of movement and interaction with other people.

MINDFULNESS-BASED STRUCTURAL INTEGRATION (MBSI)

MBSI combines therapeutic bodywork, myofascial and trigger point release, along with passive, assistive, and active range of motion, to reduce pain, improve posture, bodymechanics, flexibility, proprioceptive movement awareness, and neuromuscular re-education, aligning body structure with body function. AS soft tissue restrictions are released, the appropriate movements help the body to "realign" itself. New organization and awareness creates new movement patterns, allowing the structural changes made tore main in tact.

With increased awareness (MINDFUL MOVEMENT) we can be more conscious of our own specific responses to movement, allowing us to "re-program" those responses and create more comfort without eliciting the old habitual patterns of pain, protective holding of muscles and breath, restricted movement, and compensation.

Myofascial Release

Myofascial release is a form of soft tissue therapy intended to eliminate pain, increase range of motion, and rebalance the entire body. It does this by using massage techniques to stretch the fascia and release the bonds that exist between the fascia, muscles and bones. Fascia is the connective tissue that connects and covers all muscles, organs, and skeletal structures of the body. Direct myofascial release is sometimes known as deep tissue work. Indirect release applies light pressure and gently stretches the fascia; this allows for increased blood circulation and relief from pain.

Orthopedic Massage

Incorporated into your session-No extra fee

Orthopedic massage is a style of massage therapy focused on treating painful conditions that affect the soft tissues of the body. Because orthopedic massage is designed to treat medical conditions, it requires extensive training. It involves releasing tense muscles, helping to stretch and lengthen tight muscles and tendons, and decompress rigid joints. Our goal is to assist in restoring  full health to the soft tissues of your body, both treating your specific conditions as well as improving your overall well-being.

The term ORTHOPEDIC MASSAGE, refers to a more clinical approach to treatment. Often, with specific injuries, surgeries, or chronic musculoskeletal conditions, certain therapeutic techniques and protocols are indicated, or in some cases contraindicated (not advised).

Structural Integration

Structural integration employs soft tissue manipulation with the goal of realigning the body in relationship to the force of gravity. The theory underlying structural integration asserts that often the fascia is restricted.  Practitioners typically prescribe a specific series of  sessions, to "unlock" the whole body.

Sports Massage

Sports Massage is a type of massage designed for highly active people who engage in athletics. Engaging in sports is harsh on the body and can often lead to injuries in both the short and long term. Sports Massage enhances performance and prolongs a sports career by helping to prevent injury, reduce pains and swelling in the body, relax the mind, increase flexibility, and dramatically improve recovery rates. Sports Massage is also highly effective in aiding the rapid recovery of an athlete from an injury by encouraging greater kinesthetic awareness and in turn promoting the body's natural immune function.

Swedish Massage

Private and Semi-Private Classes with Ross LaBossiere LMT, LPTA, CYT

40+ years of experience

"For many people, yoga seems like just a series of stretches and postures that can often look difficult or unattainable to the average person. This only adds to the many misconceptions about yoga.

If you've wanted to try yoga but have been hesitant due to chronic pain, injury, age, or being out of shape,  I can offer a safe, guided introduction, addressing your needs, regardless of ability or physical limitations. " ~Ross LaBossiere

Trigger Point Therapy

Trigger Point Therapy is a style of bodywork that focuses on stimulating and releasing "trigger points" in your body. Trigger points are tender areas of tension similar to acupressure points, except they occur in the belly of the muscle rather than along the energy pathways of the body. These "knots" are built up throughout a person's life due to physical, mental, and/or emotional stress. During a session, focused pressure is applied through a variety of techniques in order to release your trigger points. This process can be slightly painful at times, yet the effects are lasting and profoundly transformative.
